Using DragonFrame
Learning DragonFrame
DragonFrame is a Stop motion program that makes creating rostrum stop motion very easy (Shot from above). This was a very simple program to use as we just had to adjust the camera to have the whole desk in frame and click enter when creating a frame of animation (For 24fps we did each frame twice to replicate a smooth video).
Animation tests
First task was on creating a short animation using shredded pieces of paper. The most effective part was the transformation from three spinning shapes to a face then exploding. These transitions were very well done as the face looks like a natural next image from the initial three shapes.
Recreating Movie Scenes
The main task in week one was to watch a famous film done by real life actors to replicate in Stop motion telling the story/moral of the film. My group decided on a film called ‘Parasite’. This film was about the gap between poor and rich people with the poor people tricking a rich family to pay them well however they also still working for the rich people so the film keeps the audience guessing on who is leeching off the other more.
We decided to recreate key parts of the film using contrasting scenes of the poor family against the rich family. In the end it came out very well with the transitions from one scene to the other. The transitions for the rich family always went upwards while the poor goes down further showing how much in decline the poor family is in.
Improvements to this video could be a use of perspective as there were no forced perspective scenes that could show the difference between the two families more, there also could be more experimental use of the black paper than still puppets.
