Moon Project
What was the brief?
Create a 10-20 second Stop motion with the prompt ‘A Trip to the Moon’. In the same group as the previous group we brainstormed an idea based off a recent discovery of the moon being able to have a pull that brings water towards it. Being inspired by that idea we decided on a story of a young man swimming in the ocean before getting shot up by water to the moon. We deliberated on a more morbid story where it cuts to the man at the end drowned at sea instead of being on the moon however we did not include that.
Overall thoughts
The process was very simple, we did a previous test of the water and how we would recreate it by creating slips of waves overlapping and going back and forth consistently to give an effect of rapid waves. This worked out well in the final video. Things to improve on is being more experimental as we barely used charcoal in this one which could have added another texture along with our existing puppet. We could have also incorporated some of our tests from the first week into this second one but as it is this video was a successful depiction of the prompt given in the beginning.
