What did I do this week?

I created more backgrounds. Making 5 different backgrounds using my storyboard. For three other scenes I re-used the wide shot and zoomed in to be able to save time and add consistency within the backgrounds as those three scenes are side shots much like the wide shot at the beginning.

After backgrounds I continued by making a transcript. This is a simple document of each of the words spoken in my audio so I can keep track of what is being spoken as well as which parts are the female and the male parts.

Afterwards I made X-Sheets, this is a plan of what part of words are said in each frame of this short animation. Since I am doing this animation in twos (Every frame lasts 2 frames) I skip every line to accommodate this decision. In the first line I break up words while aligning it to the audio. After that I can go through again and change the words to be more like combined sounds, while acting them out myself to make sure those sounds combine to create the actual word I am trying to convey.

After this I made a mouth sheet of the main characters (A sheet of expressions to different sounds) to then draw the key poses on the X-sheet to get the core feeling of the characters characteristics and facial expressions/pose at that moment. This was one of my favourite parts as I was able to start creating the characters personality through the expressions and body language so it wasn’t just an still character.

What did I achieve by the end of this week?

Finished all of my backgrounds, transcript, first draft of my X-sheets and mouth sheet for my characters.

Overall critique on my work output this week

I am surprised at how up to date I am with my pre production meaning I have gotten a lot better with self discipline with what I need to finish by the end of the week for the next as well as preparing well for the next steps too.
